ROBERT "BOB" LICHTMAN, 72,
of Southfield,.died Dec. 22, 2002. He
was the owner of J's Buster Brown and
Lady J Shoes at Universal Mall in
Warren. He was also a Navy veteran, a
member of B'nai B'rith Pisgah Lodge,
and a past president of Merchants
Association of Universal Mall. Mr.
Lichtman played the banjo and was a
bowler.
Mr. Lichtman is survived by his wife,
Norma Lichtman; daughters and son-
in-law, Ardith Lichtman of
Pennsylvania, Marla Moses of Flint,
Toni and Fred Whipple of Richfield;
son and daughter-in-law, Jay and
Jennifer Lichtman of Oak Park; grand-
children, Rose and Robin Roberts,
Aimee Lobel, David Lobel, Scott
Moses, Rachel Moses, Kevin Bigelow,
Kerri and Adam Vinton, Nicholas
Whipple, Matthew Lichtman, Andrew
Lichtman, Gabrielle Lichtman; great-
grandchildren, Aaron, Brittany, Paula
and Madison; brother and sister-in-law,
Fred and Naomi Lichtman of West
Bloomfield.

DR. DAVID J. OLEN, 61, of
Farmington Hills, died Dec. 19, 2002.
He was a biological psychiatrist who co-
founded the Mental Illness Research
Association and served
as its medical director
and executive vice
president. Dr. Olen
was also a founder and
board member of
MINDS (Mental
Illness Needs
Discussion).
As a graduate of the Dr. David
Olen
University of
Michigan Medical
School, Dr. Olen
interned at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los
Angeles and was the chief psychiatric
resident at University of Cincinnati. He
served as a major in the U.S. Army
Medical Corps and was the chief of
mental hygiene consultation and assis-
tant chief of the department of psychia-
try at Madigan General Hospital in Ft.
Lewis, Wash.
Later, Dr. Olen counseled Vietnam
veterans suffering from post-traumatic
stress disorder. He ran a phase three
clinical trial of Aricept, a treatment for
Alzheimer's disease, and taught at the
Michigan State University Medical
School. Dr. Olen was also the medical
director of a large private outpatient
psychiatric facility and a consultant to
several-managed care companies. Most
recently, he practiced in Bloomfield
Hills.
Dr. Olen lectured extensively on psy-
chopharmacology and made numerous
radio and television appearances. He was
board certified by the American Board
of Psychiatry and Neurology and was
honored by being elected a fellow of the
American Psychiatric Association.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Stephanie Olen; son, Jeremy Olen of
Sylvan Lake; daughters and son-in-law,
Jennifer and Joe Scaglione of St. Charles,
Mo., Jamie Olen of Farmington Hills;
sisters and brother-in-law, Lois Gregg of
West Bloomfield, Marcia and Merle
Rosin of West Bloomfield; grandchil-
dren, Jack and Katie. He was the dear
son of the late Alex and Esther Olen.
Interment at Temple Israel Gardens of
Beth EL Cemetery. Contributions may

JACK PRINSTEIN, 85, of Southfield,
died Dec. 21, 2002. He was the co-
owner of Prinstein Produce in Eastern
Market, a member of the Jewish War
Veterans and a mem-
ber of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek and its
seniors group.
Mr. Prinstein is sur-
vived by his sisters and
brother-in-law, Sally
Kott of Farmington
Hills, Evelyn and
David Levine of West Jack Prinstein
Bloomfield; brother
and sister-in-law, Allen
and Vivian Prinstein
of Oak Park. He was the loving son of
the late Meyer and the late Fanny
Prinstein; dear brother-in-law of the late
Ben Kott.
