Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Jacob Bass will be called to the Torah
as a bar mitzvah on Friday, Dec. 13,
at Temple Emanu-
El. He is the son of
Elissa Bass and
Linda and Jeffrey
Bass. Proud grand-
parents are Sandy
and Robert Noble,
Elaine Bass,
Marlene and Dr.
Stuart Bass and
Ilene and Richard
Karson. His great-grandparents are
Ann and Sid Cohen, Rhea Bass, Rena
Fishman, the late George Bass and
the late Dorothy and Jack Friebert.
An honor student at Norup Middle
School in Oak Park, Jacob plays gui-
tar, drums, piano and participates in
the Norup orchestra, offering violin
accompaniment. Jacob's mitzvah con-
tributions involved projects at Yad
Ezra in Berkley, the Heartland
Nursing Honie in West Bloomfield
and at the Lymphoma & Leukemia
Society.
Elana Joan Haron and Seth Adam
Haron celebrated their b'nai mitzvah
Dec. 7 at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek Southfield. They are the chil-
dren of Patricia
and Mark Haron.
Their sister is
Natalie and their
loving grandmoth-
er is Gloria
Hamburger. They
are also the grand-
children of the late
David Howard and
the late Roslyn and
Elana Haron
Daniel Haron.
Elana attends
Hillel Day School
of Metropolitan
Detroit in
Farmington Hills
and excels in
music, competition
dance, tennis,
wakeboarding and
soccer.
Seth is a double
Seth Haron
honor student at
Hillel and excels at
hockey, tennis,
wakeboarding and
golf.
The twins volunteered for mitzvah
projects at Shaarey Zedek's Camp
Betman and for the Red Magen
David for Israel.
Jared Ross Hyman, son of Jan
Ovshinsky-Hyman and Richard
Hyman and brother of Cody and
Dylan, will be called to the Torah on
the occasion of his bar mitzvah during
Havdalah services
Saturday, Dec. 14,
at Temple Israel.
He is the grand-
child of Selma and
Herb Ovshinsky,
Clarice Hyman and
the late Gerald
Hyman.
Jared is an honor
student at Warner
Middle School in Farmington Hills.
He enjoys camping with his family,
horseback riding, computers and soc-
cer. As part of his mitzvah projects, he
worked at Temple Israel's Labor Day
picnic and with the Friendship Circle
in a sports program for special needs
families.
Alison K. Pullman, daughter of Lisa
and Dr. Thomas Pullman and sister of
Michael and Adam, will celebrate her
bat mitzvah on
Friday, Dec. 13, at
Temple Israel. Her
proud grandparents
are Gail and
Kenneth Dishell
and Ann and
Charles Pullman.
She is also the
grandchild of the
late Virginia
Pullman. Sharing in the simchah will
be excited great-grandmother Ida
Dishell. .
Alison attends Detroit Country Day
School in Beverly Hills. Her interests
are playing tennis, lacrosse and going
skiing. Her most meaningful mitzvah
project was working at the Humane
Society.
Jordan Silver will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Dec. 14, at Temple Emanu-El. Sharing
in the joy for this
special occasion
will be parents,
Paula and Dr.
Joseph Silver, sister
Morgan, grand-
mother Ruth Silver
and grandparents -
Jenny and Clifford
Brownlee. He is
also the grandson
of the late Mark Silver.
Jordan is a seventh-grade honor stu-
dent at Norup Middle School in Oak
Park, where he plays on the basketball
