A day in the life
of JARC

RESIDENCE: A renovated log
cabin on Watkins Lake in
Waterford
JOB TITLE: Executive direc-
tor of JARC (She celebrates her
25th Anniversary in 2003 as
JARC's executive director.)
JOB
DESCRIPTION: Oversees
JARC, an $8 million agency that
provides residential services to
men and women with develop-
mental disabilities, and in-home
and support services to children
with any disability and their
families. Implements the
agency vision to ensure people
with disabilities are included in
all of community life. Manages
contracts with public funding
sources; oversees the raising of
$2 million from the community;
supervises 200+ employees.
MOST
CHALLENGING ASPECT
OF JOB: Maintaining our
incredibly high standards of
care every minute of every day,
regardless of funding challenges
(which are enormous of late).
WHAT I ENJOY MOST: The
incredible people with whom I
work — my fellow staff mem-
bers, and our fantastic lay lead-
ers and volunteers. They make
coming to work every day a joy,
and they get me through the
tough stuff.
