The Children's Leukemia Foundation
of Michigan presented Sylvia Brown
of Southfield with a Lifetime
Achievement Award. She and her
husband, Harry, joined with other
parents who lost a child to leukemia
to help found the Children's
Leukemia Foundation in Detroit in
1952. She become the agency's first
executive director and served for 23
years. Alan and Sharyn Cornfield of
Farmington Hills were presented
with the Sylvia and Harry Brown
Award as the agency's most outstand-
ing volunteers. Sharon completed her
first term on the board in 1990. Alan
chaired the board of directors for six
years and served for many years as
the board liaison with CLF's medical
advisory committee.
