The glowing angels tittered, chuckled
and whispered to one another, for what
could these angels possibly have to
offer? What could they give to Man, the
son of God?
But just a few seconds later, another
rumor fluttered on the lips of the bril-
liant angels. "The Lord is smiling."
They looked up, and God was smil-
ing. He looked down lovingly at the
somber looking angels, the dark and
gloomy ones, and said, "Yes, little ones,
what do you have to offer?"
The leader of band of outcasts
stepped forward to stand next to the
appraised, shining angels. In a raspy,
ugly voice that seemed to come from far
away, he said, "I can give Man stupidi-
ty. ,,

There was silence, and all the shim-
mering, beautiful angels looked- to God
for their signal to laugh. But God didn't
laugh, and another dark angel stepped
forth and said, "And I can give him self-
ishness and greed."
"I can give him bad morals," said a
third. The silence was deafening.
The yellow, glowing, radiant angels
were all staring at the Lord, waiting for
him to lash out at these outcasts, at
their audacity to dare give His son evil
traits.
But wait, God was smiling again!
And God turned to the gloomy,
wispy and ashen angels, and then to the
glowing, radiant and shimmering ones,
and chuckled. And said in a voice that
gave them all a hug:
"Little ones, Man will have all these
traits suggested today, for this is exactly
the way I want Man to be, in My
image. Many shall be intelligent, cre-
ative and compassionate. But in order
to be great, dominate the world and
play out the story of Life as I planned it,
he shall have to be stupid, selfish and
immoral, so that he can have something
to conquer and to be victorious upon,
so that he will never stop growing. So
that unlike the beginning, there shall
never be an end."
And all the angels nodded in agree-
ment, now they understood. A smile
could be found on all their faces, but
not a glimpse of contempt.
And behold. "On the sixth day, God
created Man."
