t was a sunny Sunday afternoon, and the Detroit
Tigers were losing to the Oakland Athletics at
Comerica Park. But there were no losers Aug. 25
at Kensington Metropark near Milford, where
more than 1,000 people showed up at Maple Beach for
the third annual Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
Ducky Derby.
"It was a huge splash," said event chair Julie Phillips.
"We raised over $11,000 from duck adoptions and every-
one enjoyed the day."
The rubber ducks raced to the finish line with help
from the Milford Fire Department. Families also enjoyed
picnic food, music, carnival games, moonwalks, air-
brushed tattoos and more summertime fun.
