2002 recipient of the 15th annual
Mandell and Madeleine Berman
Award for Outstanding Professional
Service. The award is made through
the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit.

Governors meeting
scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Berman
Award recognizes the outstanding
contributions of communal profes-
sionals employed by Federation, its
agencies and beneficiaries and other
Detroit-area Jewish social service
organizations.
Rabbi Cohen has been with the
Southfield-based Yeshiva Beth
Yehudah since 1992, serving as
administrator, teacher and adult edu-
cator. Under his direction, the Yeshiva
Beth Yehudah Partners in Torah pro-
gram draws 300 students every
Tuesday evening to the boys' campus
to study Torah.
Rabbi Cohen, active in Federation's
Alliance for Jewish Education, is a fac-
ulty member of Seminars for Adult
J ewish Enrichment at the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit. He also is a mohel [ritual cir-
umciser] and Torah scribe.
Learn To Play Bridge
At Oak Park JCC
The Jewish Community Center in
Oak Park will offer beginning bridge
classes 4:30-6:30 p.m. beginning
Thursday, Oct. 3.
The classes will be taught by Irene
Alpiner and run for eight weeks. The
cost is $7 for members and $90 for
non-members. Registration will take
place at the sports desk.
