RUTH BERK, 89, of Miami, Fla., for-
merly of Detroit, died Aug. 15, 2002.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Sheldon and Judith
Berk of Los Angeles, Jeffrey and Beth
Berk of Santa Rosa, Calif.; daughter and
son-in-law, Carole and Sy Fryman of
Miami, Fla.; brothers and sister-in-law,
Marvin Weisman, Bill and Garie
Weisman; grandchildren, Rick and
Mary Rosen, Ken and Kim Rosen,
Lauren and Stuart Jones, Steve and
Janey Fryman, Cindy Dahne, Diane and
Fausto Meli, Adam and Susie Fryman,
Meridith Berk, Allison Berk, Emily
Berk, Joelle Berk; several great-grand-
children. Mrs. Berk was the beloved wife
of the late Maurice Berk; loving mother
of the late Sandra Rosen.

SIMON CIEK, 84, former Detroiter of
Miami, Fla., died July 29, 2002. He was
a devoted Zionist and president of the
Zabotinsky Revisionists.
He is survived by his
wife, Miriam; members of
the organization and
friends. He was the hus-
band of the late Helen.

SHLOMO DICHTER, 88, of Detroit,
died Aug. 18, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Riva
Dichter; daughters and sons-in-law,

of Long Island; sisters and brother-in-
law, Pola Guz of Haifa, Israel, Sarah and
Avraham Sirota of Ranat Gan, Israel,
Etta Korny of Kfar Sabba, Israel; grand-
children, Rani Balsamo, Yael
Gormezano, Yaacov Gormezano,
Michelle Gormezano.

IRVING FENKELL, 74, former
Detroiter of Boca Raton, Fla., died Aug.
6, 2002. He was a graduate of Central
High School in 1946 and then served in
Germany and France in the U.S. Army
during World War II.
Mr. Fenkell was a partner in Fenkell
Meat Packing Co. and co-owner of City
Foods before retiring to Florida. He was
a member of Congregation Beth Achim
and Knollwood Country Club as well as
being a Craftsman Lodge Mason and a
Shriner. Golf and amateur hockey were
special interests.
He is survived by his beloved wife of
49 years, Sylvia; sons and daughters-in-
law, Louis and Heidi Feneldl, David and
Karen Fenkell; daughter and son-in-law,
Sherri and Walter Lewitz; grandchildren,
Mandi Fenkell, Sydney and Max
Fenkell, Matthew Lewitz; mothers-in-
law, Bess Rich of Florida, Marion
Abramsohn of Michigan; brother and
sisters-in-law, Morris and Sybil Fenkell
of Birmingham, Barbara Stern of
Boynton Beach, Fla.; sisters, Lois Ruth
Nichamin of North Miami Beach, Fla.,
and Mildred Ross of Bloomfield Hills. .
He was the brother of the late Al
Fenkell; and brother-in-law of the late
Larry Nichamin and the late Dr. Leslie
I. Moss.

Fla:, died Aug. 18, 2002. He was a
home improvement salesman. He was
also a medic during
World War II. In
1944, he was among
the troops that liber-
ated Paris. He was
awarded the Good
Conduct Medal, the
European Theater
Presidential Citation
for the company with
five battle stars, a
Harry Krowitz
bronze star company
medal, arrowhead for
invasion and a Victory Medal; he was
also awarded a Victory Medal by the
French government. Mr. Krowitz was a
Jewish War Veteran, a member of the
Volunteer Parking Enforcement Agency
in Farmington Hills, a member of B'nai
