He was a graduate of Central High School in 1946 and then served in Germany and France in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Fenkell was a partner in Fenkell Meat Packing Co. and co-owner of City Foods before retiring to Florida. He was a member of Congregation Beth Achim and Knollwood Country Club as well as being a Craftsman Lodge Mason and a Shriner. Golf and amateur hockey were special interests. In 1944, he was among the troops that liber- ated Paris. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the European Theater Presidential Citation for the company with five battle stars, a Harry Krowitz bronze star company medal, arrowhead for invasion and a Victory Medal; he was also awarded a Victory Medal by the French government.
