50th togetherness ...
Saturday, Sept. 28 ...
at Parthenon House
on Drake ... Call
Marlene Pritz Nessel, (248) 357 - 5823.
IF YOU ASK, the waitperson may
tell you it is just ground beef with
dried cherries.
But the Cherry Burger at Mr. Joe's
on 12 Mile off Northwestern
Highway in Southfield is the real
thing folks have been asking about.
It's that low fat, low cholesterol,
low calorie burger ... and there is
absolutely no taste of cherries ... and
no chewy dried cherries.
The Traverse City favorite is among
Mr. Joe's award-winning selection ...
and there are many at Joe
Machiorlatti's popular spot.

OLDIE BUT GOODIE Dept. ...
From Marilyn Tringali ... A mechanic
was removing a cylinder head from
the motor of a Harley-Davidson,
when he spotted a world-famous
heart surgeon in his shop. The heart
surgeon was waiting for the service
manager to take a look at his bike.
The mechanic shouted across the
garage, "Hey, Doc, can I ask you a
question?"
The famous surgeon, a bit sur-
prised, walked over to the mechanic
working on the motorcycle.
The mechanic straightened up,
wiped his hands on a rag and asked,
"So, Doc, look at this engine. I also
can open it up, take valves out, fix
them, put in new parts and when I
finish this will work just like a new
one. So how come I get a pittance
and you get the really big money,
when you and I are doing basically
the same work?"
The surgeon paused, smiled, leaned
over and whispered to the mechanic,
"Try doing it while it's running!" El
