Community

The Israeli Scout Friendship Caravan
will bring a message of peace and
friendship to Detroit on Sunday, Aug.
11.
The 10-member troup of Israeli
Boy and Girl Scouts will dance and
sing at 2 p.m. at the Jewish
Community Center outdoor pool
plaza in West Bloomfield. The per-
formance is open only to JCC mem-
bers.
At 7:30 p.m. that day, the Scouts
will give a free public performance at
Charlotte Rothstein Park, located
behind the JCC in Oak Park.
The JCC's JPM building will be the
scene for an Israeli shuk (marketplace)
Aug. 11-13, when Israeli art will be
on display and available for purchase.
The shuk will be held in cooperation
with the American Jewish Committee.
The Israeli Scouts, age 16-17, are
among 100 teens who will travel to
the U.S. and Canada this summer to
represent Israel. They will perform at
camps, public gatherings, schools,
community centers, hospitals and
nursing homes.
