ighballs High Heels: A
girl's guide to the art of
cocktails by Karen
Brooks, Gideon Bosker
and Reed Darmon (Chronicle Books,
$14.95), invites you to "slip into a
pair of slingbacks and sling one back,
girl-style, with art and attitude."
This classic and original drink col-
lection comes with a female twist —
and a recipe for a killer chocolate
margarita.
So all you "Cocktail Goddesses"
take heed: You are the mood-maker
and the spell-caster. Every cocktail
has its time and place, and matching
a drink with the appropriate occasion
is key to earning status as a drink
diva. Here's what the girls have to say
in Chapter 5:

"If girls have a season all their own,
it's summer. Bring on the days of
cocoa butter and cool shades; tank
tops and cheating with insta-tan;
steamy
romances and
3 a.m. mood
walks; ice
cream in the
freezer and ice
cubes in every
drink. Summer
is so full of
expressions —
from lush to
blithe, impulsive
to all-out vegetative
— every notion requires its
own special mix"
