toasted roll and
sticks ... The pasta
dishes include soup
or salad, bread bas-
ket with toasted roll
and sticks ... Lunch
comes with soup,
broccoli and rice ...
Those gourmet
luncheon specialties we mentioned, by
the way, are served only until 3 p.m.
Georgio's Gourmet Diner in West
Bloomfield is a dining experience that
brings people back again and again ...
Its long list of regulars grows each day
... in an amazing success.
FORMER DETROIT nitery
songstress/pianist great, Jo Thompson,
was among the Detroit Jazz Jewels TV
show aired nationwide that was nomi-
nated for an Emmy.
Jo will be back in New York with the
J.C. Heard Orchestra, directed by Walt
Szymanski, opening the summer series,
beginning Wednesday, June 26, at
Tavern on the Green ... She will appear
there the entire summer ... and then
on to New York's noted Russian Tea
Room for its fall cabaret series.
Also look for wonderful Jo to open
at Jilly's as part of its Sinatra Music
Series ... The late Jilly Rizzo and
Frank Sinatra were close friends when
Sinatra and gal pal, Ava Gardner, came
to hear the youthful Jo at Miami
Beach's El Patio Club years back ...
and became instant fans.
WHAT PEOPLE TALK About ...
When the French bistro will open at for-
mer Pizzeria Uno site ... When Gadjoen
Japanese restaurant will open at former
locale of Powerhouse Gym ... Red Wings
stars Jiri Fisher and Dominic Hasek hav-
ing their hair done by Pavlina Turner at
award-winning Charter House Barber
Shop in West Bloomfield ... Restaurants
that roll back prices but don't serve the
same quality food as then ... Noi Italian
restaurant and Joseph's dining spot in
Windsor ... Rumor of a coney island
chain coming to the Northwest area.
KORN KORNER passed on by
Esther Allweiss Tschirhart ... Two Jews,
Morty and Saul, are out one afternoon
on a lake when their boat starts sinking.
Saul says to Morty, "So listen, Morty,
you know I don't swim so well."
Mort)/ remembered how to carry
another swimmer from his lifeguard
class when he was just a kid. So Morty
begins tugging Saul toward shore.
After 10 minutes, he begins to tire.
Finally about 100 feet from shore,
Morty asks Saul, "So Saul, do you
suppose you could float alone?"
Saul replies, "Morty, this is a hell of
a time to be asking for money!" ❑
