ANDREW SCHLESINGER, 88, of
Boca Raton, Fla., died May 30. He was
a tool and die salesman.
He is survived by his son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Dr. Stephen Lawrence and
Laura Ann Schlesinger of Hawaii;
daughter, Kay Mizell of Troy; stepson,
Steven Caplan and his wife, Galleon;
grandchildren, Michael and Kim Mizell;
sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Jack
Weiss of Oak Park. Mr. Schlesinger was
the beloved husband of the late Dolores
"Dody" Schlesinger.

MARIA PAJEWSKI, 80, of Livonia,
died May 28.
She is survived by her beloved hus-
band, Max Pajewski; son and daughter-
in-law, Morris and Joan Pajewski of
Farmington Hills; daughter and son-in-
GERDA M. SELIGSON, 93, of Ann
Arbor, died June 1. A University of
Michigan professor emeritus, Professor
Seligson was born in
Germany and
immigrated to England
in 1939 and then to
the United States in
1947. She taught high
school Latin in New
Gerda Seligson
York City and at
University High School
in Ann Arbor. In 1956, she joined the
faculty of the University of Michigan
Department of Classical Studies, retiring
1979.
She also continued to teach as a visit-
ing classics professor in Wisconsin and
Iowa. She was actively engaged in the
teachinc, of classical languages and in the
training of language teachers using mod-
ern theories of linguistics. She served as
president of Congregation Beth Israel,
the first woman president of a
Conservative congregation in the coun-
try. In addition, she was a past president
of Hadassah and a member of the
Multi-Ethnic Alliance and the Jewish
Community Council.
She is survived by her daughter and
son-in-law, Elizabeth and Nathan
Johnson of Juneau, Alaska; grandsons,
Adam and Benjamin. She was the
beloved wife of the late Rabbi Rudolf
Seligsohn.
Services were held at Congregation
Beth Israel in Ann Arbor; interment will
be held in London, England.
