"For such a new place, service was better than I expect-

---Sylvia Rector

"We did swoon over a remarkably grand grilled 16-

pan-seared Chilean sea bass nestled atop a bed of
braised spinach and tomato saffron couscous."

and his brother,
Peter, on 12 Mile
and Middlebelt.
Johnny and
Karmanos have been
close friends for 25
years, as well as part-
ners with Johnny
and wife Marion's
son, Peter, in the catering business at
Karmanos' hockey arena that houses his
Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario
Hockey League.
Also, Peter Karmanos is a main reason
for the annual Ginopolis Golf Tourney
to further cancer research at Children's
Hospital of Michigan ... Each year,
Karmanos gives Johnny $50,000 plus
the use of his private jet to auction off
rides around the country
On the back wall at Ginopolis eatery
are the Red Wings jersey of Steve
Yzerman ... side-by-side with a Carolina
pullover ... Ginopolis' may be the only
restaurant in town with a Carolina jersey
hanging up.
"The Stanley Cup series is a no-lose
situation for me," says Johnny.
"Once a Red Wings fan always a Red
Wings fan," says Johnny's wife, Marion.
LAST YEAR, 500 pairs of jeans were
collected ... and donated to the homeless
of Oakland County ... Also other cloth-

books, etc. by folks wishing to make a
tax-deductible donation.
Now comes the 13th Annual
Clothing Drive by Guys 'N Gals, owned
by Lois Levenson and Julie Feldman ...
in the Orchard Mall on Orchard Lake
Road and 15 Mile (Maple) in West
Bloomfield.
People taking jeans to the store ...
Friday June 14 ... from 10 a.m. to 9
p.m..... get a new pair for just half the
retail price.
Over the years this has become a
very successful endeavor by Guys 'N
Gals ... It's a great chance to clean out
closets of unused items ... and help a
wonderful cause.
PLANS HAVE BEEN made by Lou
Linden (former boss of Hammerstein
Drugs in Oak Park) and wife Janice ...
for a Linden Family Reunion, June 21
through 23 ... at the Double JJ resort in
Rothburg, Michigan.
But it will be much more than a
Western shindig ... Among their eight
children and 12 grandchildren ... there
will be celebrations of five wedding
anniversaries and five birthdays.
SAID TO BE Oakland County's
first iVIiddle Eastern restaurant, Pita
Cafe, celebrating its 10th anniversary
this year, recently opened its third din-
