death camp, I was over-
whelmed. I was actually
here on the trip that I've
wanted to experience for so
long. For so long, it was
just pictures, books and
numbers.
Tears flowed from my eyes
at the death camp, where
thousands of people were
murdered. Learning from
textbooks and seeing pic-
tures in no way prepares you
to understand the depth of
the experience of being in
these places. Hearing the
stories of actual survivors in
the original setting was
powerful and gripping.
The actual march, from
Auschwitz to Birkenau, was
the most liberating possible.
