Amy Rothberger Wins Doren Scholarship

Ah, Regional
Convention - a
culmination of all the
hard work and effort
that the chapter has
put in. However,
preparing for RC is not
always just fun and
games. Achayot BBG
has come to accept
RC as a time of
sisterhood bonding as
well as "work." To us,
the term "work" does not have
the same stigma as it has for
everyone else. There's just
something about pulling an all-
nighter, even spending hours on
end getting the rhythm and
words right to our Regional
song. And how could countless
hours of rehearsal be forgotten
while making sure that the
whole chapter knew the
difference between "tight and
firm" claps and "sloppy and
loose" claps. These are the
things that make RC the way it
is.
This was the first time that
Achayot BBG won RC in three
years, and winning wasn't even
the highlight for anyone in the
chapter. We all knew that no
matter what the outcome may
be, we had all had the best

week of our lives. The
30 Achayot girls who
attended RC spent
nearly 24 hours a day
together without a
single quibble,
quarrel, or qualm.
Through all of this, we
strengthened our bond
as Achayot girls and
became close to
others we would not
have known.
RC is something that
consumes our chapter not only
the week it takes place but for
months leading up to it as well.
Sure, it's competitive but only to
the extent that we want to show
others what we have worked on
so hard. Getting rewarded is
only really a nice "plus." So,
with a successful RC behind us,
due not so much to the awards
won but to the bonds made, the
only appropriate thing left to say
is the mantra of Achayot BBG
during RC when something
shockingly good occurred,
"whoa mamasita...aaand toe
touch!"
