Park, died May 5.
She is survived by her son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Dr. Harry and Tamara
Handelsman of Chevy Chase, Md.;

Jared and Portia Handelsman, Penina
and Michael Maya, Joel Marks and

Handelsman, Solomon Maya, Nathan

VIRGINIA LICHTENSTEIN
HELLER, 82, of West Bloomfield, died
May 1. Mrs. Heller was a social worker at
what is now JVS. She was a board-certi-
fied Jewish educator in Chicago, a med-
ical field agent for the Selective Service
System in Michigan. Her synagogue affil-
iation was with Temple Beth El, where
she taught for 40 years.
Her main passion was gardening and
her garden was considered one of the pre-
miere ones in the area. She regularly host-
ed garden walks and tours for garden soci-
eties. Her affiliations included her mem-
bership in the Michigan Regional Lily
Society as an active hybridizer, serving on
the board of directors, being past presi-
dent and a certified judge for 20 years. In
addition, Mrs. Heller was a member of
the Detroit Hosta Society, serving on its
board of directors, as a certified judge and
with the speakers bureau. She served regu-
larly as a judge for the Lilium Society,
American Daffodil Society and Daylily
Society.
She is survived by her daughters and
sons-in-law, Barbara Heller Weingarten
of Birmingham, Wendy Heller Fogel of
New York and Yehuda Fogel of New
York, Marcy Heller Fisher and Robert
Fisher of Bloomfield Hills, Dr. Vicki
Heller and Dr. Lee Cohen of
ARNOLD LEONARD KAUFMAN,
78, of West Bloomfield, died April 30.
He was the owner and operator of
Carco Steel Products Company and
was active in the steel business for over
50 years. He was a World War II veter-
an and was also
active with the
Jewish Federation
for many years.
Recently, Mr.
Kaufman was a vol-
unteer for Jewish
Social Services,
teaching immigrants Arnold Kaufman
to become citizens
and tutoring chil-
dren in reading
skills.
Mr. Kaufman is survived by his wife,
Iris Kaufman; Iris's children, Glenn
Adelson and_Ilene Rosin, Andrew and
Linda Adelson, James and Kris Adelson
and their children, Sam and Ellery
Rosin, Jason and Justin Beckwith,
Amanda and Colleen Adelson; . daugh-
ters and son-in-law, Stacey K. and
Mark Levy of Florida, Jody Kaufman of
Huntington Woods; grandchildren,
Joshua and Jourdan Levy; sister,
Frances Kessler.
