Adat Shalom Hosts
`Survival' Star

Kim Johnson, first runner-up on
last fall's "CBS Survivor Africa"
series, will be the guest speaker at
the Adat Shalom Sisterhood Donor
Day, Tuesday, May 7. Her topic will
be "The
Surviving
sanM.,
Experience."
Johnson, a 57-
year-old grand-
mother, was one
of 16 individuals
who learned to
adapt and survive
not only the
environment, but
each other. After Kim Johnson
38 days, she beat
out 14 other
male and female contestants to
advance to first runner-up.
Married for 37 years, Johnson is a
retired elementary school teacher
who works as the league tournament
coordinator for an indoor tennis
club. She is fluent in sign language
and has volunteered for the blind
and deaf.
Donor Day will begin at 10 a.m.
with 20 shopping boutiques and a
continental breakfast.
During the catered, kosher lunch
at noon, children and adult mem-
bers of the congregation will visit
the tables with informal fashion
modeling.

Donor Day is sisterhood's only
fund raiser. Proceeds allow sister-
hood to continue to fund youth
scholarships and extend support to
community projects. There are five
categories of tickets, ranging from
$40 to $360 per person.
Complimentary babysitting arrange-
ments can be made with-advance
reservations.
The boutiques, open to all, will
be open for shopping from 10 a.m.-
3 p.m. with no admission charge.
Chairs for Donor Day are Risa
Brickman and Debbie Lederman,
both of West Bloomfield.
Reservations are required by April
