Sheehy

Popular author Gail Sheehy's ground-
breaking book Passages remained on
the New York Times betseller list for
more than three years and was named
one of the 10 most influential books of
our time by the Library of Congress.
Sheehy a contributing editor to Vanity
Fair Magazine, is also the author of
The Silent Passage and Hillary's
Choice.

School in Walled Lake, where he is an
honor student. He found it very
meaningful to volunteer at Yad Ezra in
Berkley as part of his mitzvah projects.

Sarah Haley Lewkow, daughter of
Gayle and Elliot Lewkow, will celebrate
her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Friday, April 12. Her
brothers Noah and
Jacob and grand-
mother Margaret
Jonikian will share
in the simchah.
Sarah is also the
grandchild of the
late Jack Jonikian
and the late
Hermine and William Lewkow.
Sarah attends Abbott Middle School
in West Bloomfield, where she enjoys
singing in the advanced choir. Her other
interests are soccer, dancing, snowboard-
ing and working on the computer.
Raising funds for the families of the
Sept. 11 victims was her most meaning-
ful mitzvah project.

Max Eric Roberts will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
April 13, at Temple
Beth El. He is the
son of Scott and
Judy Roberts and
the brother of
Andrea ("AJ") and
Joey. His proud
grandparents are
Phyllis and Marshall
Loewenstein of
Bloomfield Hills and Norma Roberts of
Richmond, Va. Joining in the celebra-
tion will be great-grandfather Stanley
Lewis of Weston, Mass. Max is also the
great-grandson of the late Eleanor and
Max Loewenstein and Eve "GG" Lewis.
Max is an honor student at
Cranbrook Kingswood Middle School
in Bloomfield Hills, where he plays soc-
cer, basketball and baseball. Out of
school, he also plays travel ice hockey.
Camp Kawaga in Minocqua, Wis., is
where Max enjoys spending his sum-
mers. His many mitzvah projects includ-
ed volunteering at Gleaners Food Bank
in Detroit, Yad Ezra in Berkley, feeding
the homeless at Cappuchin Soup
Kitchen in Detroit, teaching youngsters
to ice skate through Volunteer Impact as
well as helping with spring clean-up at
Cass Park in Orchard Lake.

Jordan Ashlee Shifman will be called
to the Torah on Saturday, April 13, at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield.
Her proud parents are Cindy and
Stewart Shifman. She is the sister of
