MARIAN MANN, 93, of Oak Park,
died March 20. She was the former'
director of the New Mexico's merit sys-
tem and worked for the state govern-
ment from 1943-1971 . Mrs. Mann was
instrumental in remodeling and enlarg-
ing the old merit system into the mod-
ern state personnel department.
She was active in many community
organizations, including the Santa Fe
Chamber Music Society, the Altrusa
Club, the AAUW and Temple Beth
Shalom. She also volunteered three days
a week at Temple Emanu-El and was a
member of the EMES Group, was the
recipient of an 8 over 80 award, a mem-
ber of the American Association of
University Women and a member of the
Jewish Women International.
Mrs. Mann is survived by her daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Harold
Kulish of Bloomfield Hills, Jeannie and
Dr. Gershon Weiner of Farmington
Hills; grandchildren, Melinda Kulish,
Jonathan Kulish, Joel Jackson, Bruce
and Sharon Weiner, Sandra and Chaim
Mishory; great-grandchildren, Stuart,
Reena and Avi Mishory, Michael and
Hilary Weiner; brother, Robert Ofner.
Mrs. Mann was the beloved wife of the
late Frederick Z. Mann.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.

SOPHIE PERLMAN, 87, of
Southfield, died March 24.
A member of B'nai B'rith, she is sur-
vived by her son and
daughter-in-law,
Richard and Lisa
Perlman of Madison
Heights; daughter-in-
law, Rose Perlman and
grandchildren, Jeffrey,
Mark and Nancy. Mrs.
Perlman was the
beloved wife of the late
Sophie Perlman
Isadore Perlman and
the loving mother of
the late David Perlman.
Interment at Clover Hill Park

MERA POLYAKHOVSKAYA, 93, of
Southfield, died March 22.
She is survived by her son-in-law,
Arkadiy Ongeyberg; grandchildren,
Irena and Dimitri Lager, Vadim and
Irena Ongeyberg; great-grandchildren,
Inna Zager, Valarie Zager, Iliya
Ongeyberg. Mrs. Polyakhovskaya was
the beloved wife of the late Zalman.

DR. MARVIN RIVKIN, 63, of Troy,
died March 6.
A doctor specializing in industrial
medicine and a member of the Model
Airplane Club and a Sammy, he is sur-
vived by his son and daughter-in-law,
Billy and Sue Rivkin of Ferndale;
daughters, Gigi Rivkin and Kathy
Rivkin, both of Los Angeles; mother,
Edith Rivkin of Royal Oak; sister and
brother-in-law, Carole and Irwin Price
of New Jersey and sister-in-law, Gloria
Rivkin. Dr. Rivkin was the loving son of
the late Malcolm Rivkin and the dear
brother of the late Dr. Fredric Rivkin.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial

SHIRLEE SUZANNE ROSEN, 71, of
Farmington Hills, died March 20,
2002.
Mrs. Rosen, a Pittsburgh native,
graduated Detroit's
Central High School.
She passionately pur-
sued sports and film
as a scholar and fan.
She loved to travel
and enjoyed art, cook-
ing, mah jongg and
the big bands of the
1940s. She was active
Shirlee Rosen
in PTA, local and
state Democratic poli-
tics and was committed to Women's
American ORT, where she was a chap-
ter president and amassed many dia-
mond chips for her years of service.
She is survived by her husband
Alfred Rosen; son, Randy Eliot Rosen
of Santa Monica, Calif.; daughter,
Nance Ellen Rosen of Santa Monica,
Calif.; sister, Addie Beckerman Adler
of Laguna Woods, Calif.; grandchil-
dren, Logan Wyatt, Cameron Jake,
Thea Rose. Mrs. Rosen was the dear
mother-in-law of the late Lester
Lemberger.
A memorial service will be held on
Sunday, March 31, at 1 p.m. at the
Dorfman Chapel. Contributions can
