The Best Of Everything

e

and his memory is
jogged ... Pimento,
Anchovies,
Radishes,
Radicchio, Onions
and Tomatoes ...
chopped finely in a
light vinaigrette ...
with the interestin g
looks of a kaleidoscope design.
The Monday Night Salad was cre-
ated by patrons of the Palm ... a
group of men who went there to eat,
and requested a salad that was
chopped with a variety of ingredi-
ents ... Other patrons would inquire
what the dish was and it became so
popular that it was added to the
menu.
Another item added in recent year
is the Gigi Salad (our French poodle
never told me she had a salad named
after her) ... created by one of the
Palm general managers ... It includes
tomatoes, onions, green beans,
shrimp and bacon in a light vinai-
grette ... I had it without the bacon,
and found it quite a delight.
Key lime pie and tiramisu are both
made in-house ... and shipped in
daily from New York is the kosher
cheesecake.
The Palm's Half and Half ...
home-style cottage fried potato chips
and fried onion rings ... is an enjoy-
able side dish.
Dining at the Troy Palm is a pleas-
ing experience.
IT HASN'T EVEN HAD a grand
opening yet ... and you can hardly
get into the place ... A great deal of
people who can't, have been asking
George Golematis, owner of
Giorgio's Gourmet Diner in West
Bloomfield's Sugar Tree, where his
other restaurant is ... and go to the
Giorgio's Counterside Gourmet on
Greenfield in Oak Park ... operated
by his partner, brother Bill
Golematis, who can't believe the
overflow.
The food and prices are so good
folks would obviously rather travel
the distance from one suburb to
another.
As flames continue to lick from
flaming Bananas Foster, Cherry
ubilee, Steak Diane, etc., George
has another new concoction to excite
the eyes and palates ... It's his Turkey
Flambe ... in which he gives turkey
egs a new look and delicious taste
delight ... flamed on a bed of rice in
a sauce of Wild Turkey bourbon, oil
and margarine.
Giorgio's West Bloomfield locale
has only been open a few weeks ...
