ing the ceremony that Pearl had a
warm Jewish heart. "All he really want-

commemorated.
Some of the 1,000 mourners laid
flowers and wreaths Tuesday at a memo-
rial to the 5,000 residents of the Minsk
Ghetto who were killed on March 2,

Rabbi Pleads
To Porn Charges
Atlanta/JTA —
An Atlanta-area rabbi
pleaded guilty to having child pornog-
raphy on his temple computer, accord-
ing to the Associated Press.
Rabbi Juda Mintz, 59, faces more
than two years in prison for possessing
at least 10 computer files containing pho-
tographs of minors engaging in sexual
acts. Mintz allegedly had the files while
serving as spiritual leader of Mount
Freedom Jewish Center in Randolph, N.J.
Mintz's lawyer told the AP that
Mintz will never serve as a rabbi again
and is now working as a clerk in a
convenience store.

its frequent flier program for pets. Israel's
national airline received the Platinum
Golden Bell, the highest honor given by
the Hospitality Sales and Marketing

Barenboim Barred
From Ramallah
Tel Aviv/JTA — Israel barred musician
Daniel Barenboim from performing in
Ramallah. The army explained the move
Wednesday by saying it could not guar-
antee Barenboim's safety in Ramallah.
Israel has barred its citizens from enter-
ing territory under Palestinian control.
"As prominent as Mr. Barenboim is,
he is an Israeli citizen, and we cannot
guarantee the security of Israeli citi-
zens" in areas under Palestinian con-
trol, a military spokeswoman said.
Barenboim's plans to teach a piano
master class and perform in Ramallah
had prompted criticism in Israel,
where some said he was being insensi-
tive to the losses Israel is suffering at
the hands of Palestinian terrorists."
