Some of the 1,000 mourners laid flowers and wreaths Tuesday at a memo- rial to the 5,000 residents of the Minsk Ghetto who were killed on March 2, 1942. Barenboim Barred From Ramallah Tel Aviv/JTA — Israel barred musician Daniel Barenboim from performing in Ramallah. The army explained the move Wednesday by saying it could not guar- antee Barenboim's safety in Ramallah. Israel has barred its citizens from enter- ing territory under Palestinian control. "As prominent as Mr. Barenboim is, he is an Israeli citizen, and we cannot guarantee the security of Israeli citi- zens" in areas under Palestinian con- trol, a military spokeswoman said.
