keynote address at "Israel
Under the Lens: An Academic
Conference" at the University of
Michigan in Ann Arbor, Sunday,
March 10.
Roet will open the conference at 11
a.m. with a speech on Israel's increas-
ing ties to the U.S. Midwest. Another
speech closing the conference at 5
p.m. will focus on democracy in the
Middle East.
During the conference, academic
leaders will explore post-Sept. 11 for-
eign policy, peace movements, U.S.-
Israeli relations, the United Nations,
women's issues, terrorism, Israeli cul-
ture and literature.

Steven Spiegel, University of California
