The highest interest rates on savings and checking?

You've never seen a bank like this!

from page 17

To join the Israel Advocacy
Network (IAN), e-mail
IAN@jfmd.org Please
include your name in the
message; your name will be
kept confidential.

We don't charge fees for checks – or even for check print-
ing when you open your account – and we consistently
pay you the highest interest rate in southeastern
Michigan on your checking balance. (See chart)

Our savings interest rates are higher, too, as you can
see by the chart.

Another thing you'll like is our personal service. At
Paramount Bank, we know our customers by name, not just
by account number.

If we sound like your kind of bank, we are. Come on in and
check us out.

comes to affecting public opin-
ion it is a hindrance," he said.
"Lies are being repeated so
often they are being accepted
by many who don't know bet-
ter."
In watchdog style, Cohen
goes through local papers and
newspaper Web pages from
around the world finding sto-
ries about Israel, then assessing
how accurate the facts are. The
newsletter also highlights posi-
tive and negative statements by
elected officials, provides
Internet links to sources of arti-
cles and urges people to speak
up.
Allan Gale, JCCouncil assis-
tant director, called IAN "a fast-
growing vehicle for people, not
just with analyses on the week's
events, but to give them tools
and information to act on their
own.
"We have received a lot of
good comments about it. We've
seen more letters to the editor
in various publications, and we
know that people are using that
information and that they are
being motivated to be more
active Israel advocates," Gale
said.
Cohen, of West Bloomfield,
has started AYC Consulting and
is offering IAN and other
Israel-related programming to
other communities.
To him, the need is clear.
"We need to challenge the
rationalizations for inaction —
that there is nothing we can do
or that if we aren't well versed
in all the intricacies of the situ-
ation we shouldn't say any-
thing," he said. "While IAN
seeks to educate and activate,
everybody needs to understand
that not only can they do some-
thing, but that they must.
"At a time of crisis, both
action and inaction send a mes-
sage — and the message that
inaction sends can hurt us in
many ways." ❑
