DR. CHARLES ARTHUR NAGLER,
85, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Jan. 3.
He was a professor at the University of
Minnesota and Wayne State University
and had a doctorate in metallurgical
engineering. He was also a classic car
buff.
Dr. Nagler is survived by his wife of
54 years, Billie Nagler; sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Dr. William and Gabrielle
Nagler of Ann Arbor, Todd and Peggy
Nagler of Rochester; sisters and broth-
ers-in-law, Bluma Scheiner of New
York, Ruth and Norman Silver of
Arizona, Elaine and Charles Koshar of
Farmington Hills, Geraldine and
Abraham Pasternak of Southfield.
Interment at Beth El Memorial

ROSE PARNOS, 85, of Southfield,
died Jan. 4.
She is survived by her son, Michael
Parnos of Southfield; grandchildren,
Brian Parnos and Jillian Parnos. She
was the beloved wife of the late
William Parnos.

BENJAMIN PAXTON, 90, of West
Bloomfield, died Jan. 3. He went to
Northern High School and was very
adept with languages. He later studied
advertising at Wayne State University.
During. World War II, he served in
three major campaigns as a member of
the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, the Institute of Retired
Professionals and served as an officer
for the Jewish War Veterans.
Mr. Paxton owned Hershey Paxton
Advertising Agency and had as clients
major retail food markets such as
Farmer Jack, Wrigleys, Packers and Big
Bear.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Evelyn; son and daughter-in-law, Dr.
Robert and Anne Paxton of California;
daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Dr.
Joel Stolar of Highland Park, Ill.;
grandchildren, Ellen and Jane Stolar.
Contributions may be made to
UNICEF or to Jewish National Fund.

HILDA MIRIAM POLLACK, 96, of
Southfield, formerly of Detroit, died Jan.
3. She was a member of Haclassah and
performed volunteer work for other
Jewish organizations. She was also a char-
ter member of Temple Israel.
Forced to leave school at an early age
by the financial needs of her large family,
she worked as a bookkeeper prior to mar-
riage and in her 50s, she fulfilled a long-
standing ambition to augment her educa-
tion by attending courses at Wayne State
University. She also developed an interest
in early American Furniture and partici-
pated in several tours sponsored by the
Detroit Institute of Arts.
Mrs. Pollack is survived by her daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Lois and Norman
Feinberg of Florida; son and daughter-in-
law, Dr. Michael and Dr. Linda Pollack
of Florida; grandchildren, Paul Feinberg,
Daniel and Holly Feinberg, Jeffrey
Pollack, Erica Pollack; great-grandson,
Jasper Feinberg; brother, David Manilla.
She was the beloved wife of the late Dr.
John J. Pollack.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.

JOSEPH RATTNER, 88, of Troy, died
Jan. 1. He was a commercial and residen-
tial builder in Birmingham and Pontiac.
He was also a founding member of
Michigan Miniature Schnauzer Club,
taught Sunday school at Temple Emanu-
El and played bridge at the Birmingham
Senior Men's Club.
_ Mr. Rattner is survived by his wife,
Dorothy Rattner; son and daughter-in-
law, Daniel and Carolyn Rattner of
Kentucky; daughter, Martha Rattner of
Georgia; sister, Beatrice Milner of
Kentucky.
