Barry Brickner
Seeks Judgeship
Farmington Hills City
Councilman Barry Brickner is run-
ning for judge of the 47th District
Court, which covers Farmington
and Farmington Hills.
The judgeship is being vacated at
the end of 2002 by Judge Fred
Harris, who is retiring.
Brickner, in his third year on the
city council, is a graduate of the
Thomas M.
Cooley Law
School in
Lansing. He
has prac-
ticed law for
25 years, 22
as a sole
practitioner.
He earned a
bachelor of
arts degree
in telecom-

Michigan State University.
Brickner was Farmington Hills
mayor pro-tern from November
2000 to November 2001.
Previously, he was a Farmington
Hills planning commissioner for
31/2 years:
He is active with the American,
Michigan and Oakland County bar
associations. He serves on the
Farmington/Farmington Hills
Chamber of Commerce Legal
Affairs Committee. He's a former
small claims mediator for the 46th
and 47th district courts.
As a planning commissioner,
Brickner helped craft a strong cel-
lular tower ordinance, keeping
them out of residential neighbor-
hoods.
He has published articles in
American, Michigan and Oakland
County Bar Association journals
and co-authored the second and
third editions of Flying Solo, which
deal with the solo practice of law.
Brickner and his wife, Cheryl,
have been married for 28 years.
They have two daughters, Kelly,
20, and Shawn, 18. The family are
members of Adar Shalom
Synagogue.
