HYMAN "HY" HORENSTEIN, 90,
of Southfield, died Nov. 23.
Mr. Horenstein was the only surviv-
ing member of the
deli Horenstein
brothers, who had
Brother's Deli on
Dexter Blvd. He
worked for Lou and
Sam before going on
his own and opening
Max's Deli with
wife, Belle, on

Mr. Horenstein
was only 11 years
old when he started in the deli game on
Hastings and Farnsworth; he was a bus-
boy and dishwasher at the original
Boesky's for owner Sam Boesky and
helped to cut corned beef in the base-
ment.
His first delicatessen, called Hy
Horenstein's, was on Farmer and
Monroe in Detroit. Then came the one
on Second Blvd. between Willis and
Canfield, then 6 Mile and Santa
Barbara in 1942 followed by Dexter
and Boston Blvd. with partner Mike
Selik. Later, he moved to Livernois and
7 Mile.
He is survived by his sons and
daughter-in-law, Raymond and Barbara
Horenstein of Farmington Hills, Joe
Horenstein of Oak Park; daughter and
son-in-law, Anne and Fernando
Galindo of Hamilton, Ont. Canada;
grandchildren, Michelle (Jason)
Rosenfeld, Kari (Nickolas) Coburn,
Chris (special friend Jennifer Juhlke)
Galindo, Jason Galindo, Meegan
Horenstein, Charles "Chalkey
Horenstein. He was the beloved hus-
band of the late Helen Horenstein.
Interment was at Machpelah ceme-
tery. Contributions may be made to
charity of one's choice. Arrangements
by the Dorfman Chapel.

BARBARA KEIL, 67, of Grosse Isle,
died Nov. 25. For nine years, she was
a receptionist and switchboard opera-
tor at the Jewish Community Center.
Mrs. Keil is survived by her daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Leslie and
Kevin Rose of Grosse Isle, Marjorie
and Jack Ellias of New Jersey; son
and daughter-in-law, Daniel and
Rebecca Keil of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Abigail and Isabel
Keil, Ashely Ellias; mother, Betty
Kahrnoff; brother and sister-in-law,
David and Pat Kahrnoff of
Washington, D.C. She was the
beloved wife of the late Robert Keil;

loving daughter of the late Ben
Kahrnoff.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Arrangements by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

SOLOMON KLIMAN, 71, of
Farmington Hills, died Nov. 21.
He is survived by his daughter and
son-in-law, Cindy and Steve Schooler
of Clinton Township; son, Dennis
Kliman; sisters and brother-in-law,
Florence and Arthur Chafers of West
Palm Beach, Fla., Rikki Green. He was
the beloved husband of the late Doris
Kliman; brother of the late Louis
Kliman.
Interment was held at the Hebrew
Memorial Park Cemetery.

ALBERT H. MALIN, of Lake Worth,
Fla., died Nov. 10.
He is survived by his daughters,
Shereen Kruger and Marcelle Neufeld,
both of New York; brothers and sister-
in-law, Harry and Penina Malin of
Florida, Morris Malin of London,
England; sister and brother-in-law,
Edna and Dr. Alvin Finger of new
York; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Heidi)
Malin of West Bloomfield, Monte
(Louise) Zweben of San Francisco, Lisa
(Bruce) Clayton of West Bloomfield,
Danielle Neufeld of Portland, Maine;
great-grandchildren, Henry Clayton,
Anthony and Alec Malin, Lindsay
Zweben; companion, Mildred
Kohlreiter. He was the beloved husband
of the late Fannie Malin.
Interment at Beth David Cemetery
in Almont, N.Y. Contributions may be

BORIS PLAVNIK, 88, of Southfield,
died Nov. 19.
He is survived by his wife, Fanya
Plavnik; sons and daughters-in-law,
Alex and Alla Plavnik of Canton, Efim
and Lila Plavnik of Chicago; grandchil
dren, Konstantin Plavnik, Vadim
Plavnik, Marina Plavnik.
Services and interment at Mt. Hope
Memorial Park Cemetery.
