the social hall ... Only a soup station
and desserts were to be seen.
Since Scotty Bowman, Red Wing's
coach, was to receive the Alvin Foon
Award, people looked for Karen
Newman to sing the Star Spangled
Banner as she does at all Detroit home
games ... Instead, Cantor David
Montefiore sang Hatikvah and God
Bless America ... Emcees Mickey
Redmond and Ken Daniels, Red
Wings broadcasters, did an entertain-
ing job ... and Bowman told folks
what they wanted to hear ... an insight
on the high-flying Red Wings.
RED WINE APLENTY at Majestic
Market ... but none for the attendees at
the recent Crimes of Fashion 2001 ...
to benefit the Dorfman Youth Theater
of JET (Jewish Ensemble Theater).
Neiman Marcus opened its entire
store at Somerset Collection for the
event ... and found it most difficult to
get the red stains off its clothes, fur-
nishings and white carpeting.
Neiman Marcus' store was open for
the evening ... and made a contribution
to JET according to the sales that night.
CONGRATS ... to Marilyn (Bob)
Tringali on her 50th birthday ... To
Leonard Silber, now living in Delray
Beach, Fla. ... on his 75th birthday.
KORN KORNER ... From Lillian
Zellman ... Two Cub Scouts were prepar-
ing for induction into a higher rank.
Scoutmaster: "What good deed did
you do?"
Jimmy: "We helped a little old lady
across the street."
Scoutmaster: "It took the two of
you?"
Jimmy: "Yes, she didn't wanna go."
OLDIE BUT GOODIE Dept. ... A
tour bus with 30 Hadassah ladies
aboard turned over and all were speed-
ily dispatched to heaven. On their
arrival, one of the admitting angels
wouldn't let them in. He told them
that the admitting computers were
down so they would just have to wait.
At that moment God intervened and
said that he would speak to Satan to
see if they could be temporarily housed
in his domain until they could correct
the computer error. Sure enough, room
was found and they all went down to
their temporary quarters.
A few hours, later God receives an
urgent telephone call from Satan who
tells him that he must take the
Hadassah women off his hands.
"What's the problem?" God asks.
Satan replies, "These Hadassah
women are ruining my set-up. They_
have been down here only a few hours
and already they've raised $100,000
for a new air-conditioning system!"
