Tringali, may soon be opening a place
on the Northwest area.
He had Joey's On Jefferson from
1987 until 1990 ... and in the short
time, built it into a celebrity show-
place with good food in an entertain-
ing surrounding ... Gary cooked his
specialty for Tony Bennett, who "sang
for his supper" to Joey's' awed cus-
tomers Shrimp Joey, butterflied
shrimp sauteed in a white lemon Joey
sauce.
It was also a regular terpsi hang-out
for dance teachers who came to do
off-duty fancy foot steps.
The husband of Joanie Adell,
daughter of the late Bobby Adell,
Gary's restaurant is slated to bring a
new concept in its fun-dining theme.

in southeastern Michigan, with three

• "Based on the poll, 2001 Vegetarian
Awareness Month certificates were
given to three local business: Mei Ling
Vegetarian Chinese (West Bloomfield),
Inn Season Cafe (Royal Oak), and
Seva (Ann Arbor)."
(Mei Ling has since been sold and
will reopen as a Thai restaurant.)
"Honorable mentions went to
Amici's Pizza (Royal Oak, for the
vegan pizza choices), Sweet Lorraine's
-Cafe (Madison Heights for the veggie
burgers), H2O (Detroit), Atom's Juice
Cafe (Grosse Pointe), Hogan's (West
Bloomfield, for the Tofutti pie), Ruby
Tuesday (Troy, for their veggie burger),
Om Cafe (Ferndale), Tree House for
Earth's Children (Farmington), Udip
(West Bloomfield), Royal Thai (Royal
Oak, for the pineapple fried rice with
tofu — no egg), Peking House (Royal
Oak, for the eggplant in garlic sauce),
