Borders moment no. 323

seems quite a ways yet to go before
being finished ... Owner Jun Hoe
Choe doesn't think so.
WHAT PEOPLE TALK About ...
Flaming tableside dishes at Boodles in
Madison Heights ... Paprikas at
Hungarian Rhapsody in Southgate ...
The Mexican quesadillas at Honey
Tree of Farmington Hills ... The buffa-
lo steaks at Big Rock Chop House in
Birmingham ... Those filets and zip
sauce at Como's in Ferndale ... All-
around goodness at Crumpets in Troy
... New ideas in bagels being concoct-
ed by Richard Steinik at his Detroit
Bagel Factory ... Crabcakes at Fran
O'Brien's in Auburn Hills ... The corn-
ing soon of Bacco, site of the former .
Ristorante Di Modesta in Southfield.
A big regret of Slava Kozlov, traded
from the Detroit Red Wings to the
Buffalo Sabres, that Buffalo doesn't
have a Fiddler international restaurant
... So many out of work, and yet
restaurants still having difficulty in
getting enough help ... Strange ...
Dining spots are paying more than
ever for dishwashers, etc. ... New ways
to judge restaurant cleanliness on the
way by local health departments.
KORN KORNER ... From Larry
Dictor ... in California ... Abe, who is
in the schmata (rags) business is asked
by his friend Sol, "Hey, Abe, I heard
you had a big fire?" "Shhh," Abe
replies, "it's not until tomorrow night."
OLDIE BUT GOODIE ... From
Annette Goldenburg ... Three men are
hiking through the woods and come to
a raging river. The water is so deep and
so fast that it seems impossible to cross.
The first man offers a prayer, "Please,
Lord, give me the strength to cross this
river." The Lord decides that this is a
reasonable request. A cloud settles over
the man, and when it lifts, he is taller,
with legs like tree trunks and massive
arms. He struggles to cross the river,
and after four hours, he makes it.
The second man offers a prayer,
"Please, Lord, give me the strength
and ability to cross this river." The
Lord decides this is a reasonable
request. A cloud settles over the man
and when it lifts, he has massive arms,
and there is a rowboat next to him.
He struggles across the river, and after
three hours, he-makes it across.
The third man offers a prayer,
"Please, Lord, give me the strength,
ability and wisdom to cross this river."
The Lord decides this is a reasonable
request. A cloud settles around the
man, and when it lifts, he has been
changed into a woman ... She looks at
a map, walks 100 yards downstream,
and crosses the bridge!
