Super Sunday
Seeks Volunteers

loos 9

The Jewish Federation's Annual
Campaign 2002 kicks off Sunday,
Oct. 28, with Super Sunday.
Hundreds of volunteers are needed at
the Max M. Fisher Federation
Building in Bloomfield Township and
the Jewish Community Center in
West Bloomfield to make calls on
behalf of the Campaign.
The two work shifts for volunteers
are 9:45-11:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.
to 2:30 p.m. A special phone-a-thon
shift for volunteers ages 21-35 is
planned by Federation's Young Adult
Division from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the
Federation building. The YAD Super
Sunday event has the theme of televi-
sion's "Survivor" shgow.
Through Federation's Annual
Campaign, funds are raised to sup-
port agencies in Detroit and around
the world that care for the vulnerable,
rescue the oppressed and revitalize
Jewish life.
Meals will be provided for volun-
teers and childcare is available at both
locations for the first two shifts.
For information on volunteering
for Super Sunday or contributing to
the Annual Campaign, call Carol
Kaczander, (248) 203-1466.

For the Michigan Jewish AIDS Coalition, Oct. 6
was a time to celebrate its 10th anniversary, honor
past presidents and mark the
retirement of Edwina Davis
as the first executive director.
Congregation Shir Tikvah
hosted the benefit dinner
dance. From top: Franklin's
Susie Leemaster, MJAC s first
president, with a portion of
the national "Names Project"
AIDS quilt that remembers
`Andy" the Jewish Detroiter
whose parents were Holocaust
survivors, but who died at
age 36 in a Methodist nurs-
ing home because there were
no Jewish services available
for AIDS patients; his death
was an impetus for MJAC's
founding in 1991. Oak
Park's Milton Neuman, executive board treasurer,
and Huntington Woods' Rohn Goldman, board
member, co-chaired the program. Phil Elkus of
Farmington Hilly dances with his wife, Jeannie,
during the festivities.

Detroit-area shelters and food banks.
Muslim and Jewish teens will work
together to create food baskets for the
needy.
