Americans don't like their Hungarian
goulash served in this fashion ...
Perhaps these places don't realize that
meat isn't too plentiful in Hungary or
that different parts of the country have
other ways to prepare it.
Anyway, the goulash made by Rose
at Siegel's Deli is excellent.
Many will recall that garlic dressing
and dill dressing Rose used to have at
Irving's ... They're now at Siegel's,
along with her homemade apple
strudel, banana nut cake, marble cake
and brownies.
Rose's wonderful corned beef hash
used to be one of her most popular
dishes at Irving's Deli, and it just
wouldn't be Rose Guttman without
this and so many other treats.
Same for her pickled trout and
matzah ball soup ... Can you imagine
Rose being anywhere without making
these? ... Or her stuffed cabbage,
meatloaf, tenderloin tips or roast
brisket of beef?
And those great soups of hers ...
potato, cabbage, mushroom barley,
vegetable, chicken noodle ... and
knishes (potato, turkey, spinach,
kasha), vegetarian chopped liver, noo-
dle and potato kugels, etc.
Rose's salads are at Siegel's, also ...
Tuna, egg, pasta, artichoke, Greek,
antipasto and garden salads.
With Rose Guttman combining
with Rasko Perkovic, success continues
in a most satisfying fashion.
What better way for Siegel's Deli to
celebrate its recent fifth anniversary
than yelling, "Hey! Look who we've
got! Rose Guttman!"
