Jewish Apartments
residents visit Butzel.

A group seen fishing, boating and eat-
ing s'mores at the Butzel Conference
Center in Ortonville last month were
not the typical sort of teenage visitors
expected at
the camp-
grounds.
But the res-
idents of the
Jewish
Apartments
and Services
(JAS) had at
least as much
fun on their
three-day rus-
tic excursion.

Meyer Prentis
and Harriet and Ben Teitel Jewish
Apartments, both in Oak Park and the
Lillian and Samuel Hechtman Jewish
Apartments in West Bloomfield, the
group participated in the 11th annual
Jackier Family Senior Adult Butzel
Camp Retreat.
"Days began with flag raising and
pledging allegiance to the flag, then
breakfast and a full day of activities,"
says Esther Winer, JAS community
outreach coordinator. "The food was
fantastic and as one resident said,
`Lees never go home.'"
To sponsor a JAS resident for next
summer's Butzel camp trip, call Esther
Winer at (248) 592-1104.
