Kadima Meets
Lorraine and Leonard Lerner and
Arlene and Steven Victor are chairs
of Kadima's 2001 parlor meeting

provide for Kadima residential
and support services to adults with

Federation Hosts
Day For Women
Women are invited to participate in
a day of discussion and education at
the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit Women's Day
of Learning, 12:30-5:30 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
The two speakers will be Rabbi
Deborah Orenstein and Dr. Ann
Lapidus Lerner. They will speak
about repentance and forgiveness,
and how to begin each day anew.
Community rabbis and scholars will
lead 12 workshops. Following the
discussions will be a tashlich service
and afternoon tea.
The event is sponsored by
Federation's Alliance for Jewish
Education, Jewish Community
Center of Metropolitan Detroit,
Jewish Theological Seminary of
Eilu and the
America, Eilu
Hermelin-Davidson Center for
Congregation Excellence.
The cost is $18. For information

ALBERTO MIZRAHI
Starring in the musical part of the program,
Greece-born tenor Alberto Mizrahi, who apart
from serving as Ha77an (Cantor) at Chicago's
historic Anshe Emet Synagogue, has earned
high acclaim in worldwide concerts with
outstanding symphony orchestras and in opera.
Mizrahi is equally at home in contemporary
music, such as popular recordings of
"Songs for Jerusalem," 'The Voice of
a People" and "Songs of the
Yiddish Theatre."
HONORING
Adding humor and comedy to the Balfour
concert program will be the celebrated
star and producer of the highly acclaimed
"Catskills on Broadway," a hilarious and
nostalgic salute to the New York resort area
where many of America's foremost entertainers
had their start. Roman has headlined at many
of the major resorts across the country,
including Caesar's Palace in Las
Vegas and Harrah's in
Atlantic City
Harry and Sally Nosanchuk
with the prestigious Justice Louis D. Brandeis Award
Harry and Sally Nosanchuk are distinguished community
leaders and philanthropists. They are involved in many causes,
notably the Israel Bonds' Prime Minister's Club, the Jewish
Federation Quarter Century Club and are Trustees of the
Michigan Opera Theater. Their Family Community Caring Fund
underwrites the cost of programs benefiting senior citizens. It
provides annual concerts entertaining 1500-1800 people at each
performance and videotapes religious services for distribution to
senior facilities and hospitals.
Harry Nosanchuk is a former Chairman of both the Jewish
Community Council's Church-State and Education Committees.
As a delegate to the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, he helped
formulate national policy for the American Jewish Community on
Church-State relations. A founder of Citizens to Advance Public
Education and a past President of Knollwood Country Club.
Sally Nosanchuk received a degree in Home Economics
from Wayne State University. She has been a construction com-
pany executive for the past 27 years. She is a member of the
Lion of Judah, former treasurer of the Jewish Home for the Aged
Auxiliary and a volunteer for many organizations.
