restaurant in 1991.
Ardian Ceroni was a cook three
years in Padova, Italy.
Gateway is a six-day operation ...
serving breakfast, lunch and dinner ...
Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m.-8
p.m. ... Closed Sunday.
The cheese blintzes, potato latkes,
matzah balls and other Jewish deli
delights, are made on the premises by
Gateway ... along with most of the
traditional favorites it serves ... And
the prime New York strip steaks,
$10.95, with mushrooms and zip
sauce, are cut by hand at Gateway.
Pasta dishes are choice and some
quite different than the usual ... As in
Gateway's Sicilian mostaccioli, sauteed
with salami and mushrooms in an
alfredo sauce, $7.75 ... It even has a
spicy mostaccioli with chicken breast,
too, $8.95 ... and a spaghetti Vienna,
with sauteed salami, onions, mush-
rooms and green pepper in a tomato
sauce, 58.25 ... Other spaghetti dishes
are standard ... With marinara, $6.75,
or meat sauce, $7.75 ... or a spaghetti
primavera with olive and garlic, cream
or tomato sauce, $7.95.
All five chicken dinners are skinless
and boneless breast, with soup, salad
or coleslaw, potato and vegetable,
$8.95 ... with a creamy lemon sauce
or topped with Vienna salami, moz-
zarella cheese in a wine sauce or
sauteed with tomatoes, green peppers
and mushrooms in a wine sauce or
cacciatore sauteed with green peppers
and mushrooms in a tomato sauce or
the Franchese sauteed with a lemon
and wine sauce.
Gateway is also big on fresh fish ...
It's broiled 12-ounce whitefish is
$9.95 ... Same price for the popular
whitefish Duratee, smothered in
sauteed veggies and a lemon wine
sauce ... Five shrimp dishes are
$11.95 each.
The calves liver and onions at
$9.95, doesn't come much better ... It,
too, is entirely with excellent Provimi
liver ... which quality is about the
finest.
If you feel that something strange is
going on at Gateway Delicatessen ...
you're absolutely correct ... It may be a
Jewish deli, but Provimi veal dishes as
example for $9.95 ... complete meals,
too ... is quite difficult to realize.
Being more than just another deli-
catessen puts Gateway Deli into an
additional dimension of dining.
PAN-ASIAN CUISINE, a dining
adventure that has been drawing
raves galore throughout the country,
gets a big boost with the opening of
