Prentis-Morris Foundation gift helps
Oak Park ICC,

The Prentis-Morris Family Support
Foundation at the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit has made a
major commitment to benefit the
Jimmy Prentis Morris (JPM) branch
of the Jewish Community Center in
Oak Park.
The JPM building on the A.
Alfred Taubman Jewish Community
Campus is named in memory of the
son of Lester and Jewell Prentis
Morris.
The foundation's gift will assist
the Jewish Community Center
Capital and Endowment Campaign
established through the Millennium
Campaign for Detroit's Jewish
Future, a series of specially designat-
ed and named donor funds under
the auspices of the Federation and
the United Jewish Foundation of
Metropolitan Detroit. The
announcement was made at the

June 19 board meetings of the
Federation and Foundation.
The Prentis-Morris Foundation
previously gave $250,000 to the
JCC's JPM building for improving
the exterior, replacing windows and
renovating the kitchen. Now two
new major gifts will establish the
new Lester and Jewell Morris Social
Hall with accommodations for
catered events, better performing
space and enhanced acoustics, and
also create a permanent endowment
to support future improvements and
preservation of the Jimmy Prentis
Morris branch.
In addition to benefiting the
Jewish Community Center, the
Prentis-Morris Foundation also
committed to name the new Hillel
Foundation building on the
Michigan State University campus
in memory of Lester Morris, who
