Congregation Shaarey Zedek

SOLOMON (SIDNEY) ABRAMS, 70,

of Farmington, died June 18.
He is survived by his son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Mitchell Abrams and
Virginia Schaeffer of Corvallis, Ore.;
daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jim
Felton of Calabasas, Calif.; sisters and
brother-in-law, Celia and Leonard
Raimi, Marion Wiseman; grandchildren,
Madeline and Elise Abrams and Sam,
Jonah and Daniel Felton. He is also sur-
vived by his beloved companion Bette
Cannon.
Contributions may be made to a char-
ity of one's choice. Interment at Clover
Hill Park Cemetery. Arrangements by
Hebrew Memorial Chapel.

JULIUS E. ALLEN, 91, of Southfield,

died July 3. He graduated from the
Detroit College of Law and commenced
practice in 1931. He
was a member of the
Detroit Bar
Association and
Oakland Bar
Association. Mr. Allen
served on the Wayne
County Mediation
Tribunal Association
and the Oakland
County Mediation
Julius Allen
Panel.
Gov. G. Mennen
Williams appointed
Mr. Allen to serve as a member of the
Interpeninsula Communications
Commission, which had the responsibil-
ity to determine the feasibility of join-
ing the upper and lower peninsulas of
the state. Detroit Mayor Jerome P.
Cavanagh appointed Mr. Allen to serve
as a member of the Detroit Water
Board. He al'so served on the American
Arbitration Association for seven years,
receiving an award for services rendered
on the Detroit Bar Association program
to assist indigent people needing legal
help.
-
He also served as a neutral mediator
in the Wayne County Circuit Court
before the Mediation Tribunal
Association was formed and he contin-
ued under that association as a neutral
mediator through 1993.
Mr. Allen was president of Adat
Shalom Synagogue; the first man to
serve as president for six years. He
belonged to the synagogue for over 50
years.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha
Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Suzi
and Rick Goldsmith of Bloomfield
Hills; granddaughters, Julie Canner and
Nanci Goldsmith; brother and sister-in-
law, Edward "Teddy" and Gladys Allen
of Bloomfield Hills; sisters and brother-
in-law, Geraldine and Franklin Levy,
Rose Monheit. Mr. Allen was the loving
father of the late Judith B. Sandler.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to a

35, formerly of Walled Lake of
Indianapolis, Ind., died June 29. She
was as nursery school teacher.
She is survived by her beloved hus-
band, Kevin Barach, formerly of
Livonia; sisters, Judy (Bob) Budlong of
Plymouth, Nancy (Mark) Horten of
Traverse City, Beth (Jeff) Holle of
Indianapolis; brothers, Dave (Priscilla)
Mengyan of Clarkston, Mike (Linda)
Mengyan of Kentucky, Rick (DJ)
Mengyan of Tennessee, Steve (Darlene)
Mangyan of Illinois and their family;
sisters-in-law, Cori (Jim) Cann of
Wixom, Vicki (Mickey ) Hart of
Livonia and their family; mother-in-law,
Betty Barach of Livonia. Kathleen was
the loving daughter of the late David
and -Betty Mengyan; dear sister of the
late Jennifer Stamper and Terri-Lynn
Mengyan.
