Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Darrin. Matthew Achtman will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah and
will celebrate with family and friends
on Saturday, June 2,
at Congregation Beth
Ahm. Participating in
the Shabbat services
will be his parents,

Achtman, and his sis-
ter Jessica Faye. His
proud and e xcited
grandparents are
Mickie and Sam Orechkin of Delray
Beach, Fla., and Esther Achtman of
Oak Park. He is also the loving grand-
son of the late Jack Achtman.
Darrin is an honor student at Abbott
Middle School., in West Bloomfield.
His interests are ice hockey, wrestling,
drums, cross-country, bowling, reading
and computers. He has done numerous
meaningful mitzvah projects; collecting
money for the homeless during the hol-
idays is one example. His is also donat-
ing all his centerpieces to underprivi-
leged and ill children.
Reva Emily Berman will become a bat
mitzvah at Temple
Israel on Friday, June
1. She is the daughter
of Lisa and Dr. Gary
Berman and sister of
Hannah. Excited
grandparents are

grandchild of the late John. Berman.
An honor student at Walled Lake
Middle School, Reva enjoys tennis, ski-
ing, softball, photography, writing and
computers. Ass part of her mitzvah
projects, she found it particularly
meaningful to volunteer at a women's
shelter and to assist in then Temple
Israel library for the annual book fair.

spending summer at Camp Ramah.
Rachel and Michael enjoyed volun-
teering at Fleischman Residence in
West Bloomfield and attending Jewish
Association for Residential Care pro-
grams. They also have a special love for
traveling with their family to the
Caribbean, Europe and especially Israel.

the daughter of

Rachel is a seventh-grade student at
Norup Middle School in Oak Park.
She enjoys dancing, computers, playing
the clarinet, skiing and being with
friends. For her mitzvah project, Rachel
participated with Kadima residents and
in the Jewish Community Center

Jason William Hawkins will be called
to the Torah as a bar
mitzvah on Saturday,
June 2, at Temple
Israel. He is the son
of Andrea and
Antony Hawkins and
brother of Melissa
and Scott. Proud

Jason attends Warner Middle School
in Farmington Hills, where he is an all
"A" student. He likes hockey, violin,
World Wrestling Federation and caring
for a neighbor's dog after school. His
mitzvah projects included volunteering
at the Jewish Federation Apartments and
assisting at Temple Israel's Labor Day
picnic.
