secretary of his local veteran's organiza-
tion of about 200. And there will be a
Russian presence at the JWV's U.S.
Memorial Day services.

Bernard Gross, 76, of West
Bloomfield, a retired housing project
manager for the city of Detroit. "I

Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941. He
entered the Army at age 19,
serving as a radar specialist in
the invasions of the
Philippines and Okinawa.
"If we hadn't dropped the

he said.
