PHILMORE A. LEEMON, 83, for-
mer Detroiter of Las Vegas, Nev.,
died May 8. He was a high school
athlete and was offered a football
scholarship to UCLA. He later
attended the University of Michigan,
where he received a law degree.
After serving in World War II as a
first lieutenant, he went on to be a
co-founder and president of
Guardian Savings Bank. He was
president of Pisgah Lodge of B'nai
B'rith and one of the founders of
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills as well
as of the Lahser Nursing Home and
Congregation Beth Shalom.
He is survived by his wife Judith;
daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and
Daniel Gruber of Scottsdale, Ariz.;
son and daughter-in-law, Daniel
Leemon and Julie Dorsey of
Athetron, Calif.; grandchildren,
Laura, Jonathon and Anna Leemon;
sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and
Ralph Miller, Betty and Kurt Singer.
Interment in Las Vegas.

mer Detroiter of Dallas, Texas, died
May 4.
He is survived by his daughters
and sons-in-law, Leslie and Joel
Strachan of Plano, Texas, Heather
and Chad Cunningham of Selina,
Texas; sister and brother-in-law,
Magene and Sam Richmond of
Southfield; grandchildren, Jason
Nemes and Jacob Strachan. He was
the dear son of the late Louis and
Malvine Markovitz; brother of the
late Irene Schlussel and Harold
Marks.

EDITH MILLER, 87, of Farmington
Hills, died May 11.
She is survived by her nephew and

He attended Northern High School
and Wayne State University before
entering military
service in 1942.

for over 50 years,
at Nosan Building

Corp.
- He was a great
athlete and best
known for his pas-
sion for racquetball and squash, win
ning the racquetball National
Golden Masters championship a
number of times, in addition to
earning many tournament titles. He
was a dedicated and active member
of the Jewish Community Center
Health Club and a longstanding
member of Beth Achim Synagogue
and Temple Beth El.
He is survived by his wife, Pet
Nosan; son and daughter-in-law,
Terry and Jo-Anne Nosan of West
Bloomfield; daughter and son-in-
law, Jan and Buzz Silverman of
Birmingham; grandchildren, Loren,
Blair and Stephanie Nosan, Jessica,
Lesley and Michael Silverman;
brother and sister-in-law, Bill and
Carolyn Nosanchuk of Bloomfield
Hills; sister and brother-in-law,
Arnold Rayne. He was the dear
brother-in-law of the late Harriet
Rayle.
