upcoming issue of
Chocolatier maga-
zine.
Then there's Pat's
Michigan cherry and
tart apple cobbler,
roasted pineapple
Napoleon, Le
Marigny torte with
layers of chocolate cake, chocolate Le
Marigny mousse and chocolate almond
macaroon.
The soft, elegant but not overbearing
Parkway Grille is a dining sleeper that is
gaining much attention.
Detroit Marriott Pontiac at
Centerpoint hotel itself is also a source
of much attention in its own rights.
Its 290 rooms, five suites and two
concierge levels, are works of art ... with
oversized desks, two-line phones with
modems and high-speed internet access,
refrigerator, etc.
Banquet facilities take up two rooms
... the 6,780-square-foot Oakland
Ballroom for 550 with tables and 750
without ... And the Ottawa Ballrooms
for 200 with tables and 265 without ...
Both are already winning much book-
ing for weddings, bar mitzvahs,
reunions, etc ... The food prepared for
affairs by Chef Jerry Nottage and his
staff, is among the big reasons.
Small wonder that Parkway Grille and
Detroit Marriott Pontiac at Centerpoint
are such prides for Doug and Bruce
Etkin and Curtis Burstein.
IT'S KNOWN FOR fine seafood
fare, but during six weeks, May 8-June
17, Chuck Muer Restaurants will take
another dining route.
Food from Asia is next to last in its
five offerings of foods and wine from
around the world ... with featured items
from China, Japan and Thailand ...
including those exotic spices used in
most specialty Oriental dishes.
MAIL DEPT ... from Harry Lipsitz
... "My wife, Molly, and I recently
returned from our annual stay in Boca
Raton, Fla. In the newspapers there we
saw information about dinners and
other social activities attended by people
from many other cities, but not a word
about those from the Detroit region.
"I would like to put together a group
that would plan such activities for peo-
ple from our area staying or vacationing
in Boca Raton, Del Ray or Boynton
Beach. I can be reached at (248) 661-
0367.
THEY'RE CALLED "The Terrific
Twosome" on their own personal base-
ball card ... Marilyn and Harvey
Saperstein attended their first Detroit
Tigers Fantasy Camp ... took batting
practice against former pitcher Milt
