FALL CONCLAVE...FOOTSTEPS AROUND THE WORLD

Metro Detroit's new
Jewish Academy was
fully represented among
the 213 BBYOers at Fall
Conclave at Camp Maas,
October 27-29, 2000, as
exhibited by these BBG
members: (L to R) Ariella
Lis, Achayot BBG; Sarah
Sallen and Shirah Farber,
Koach BBG; Amanda
Ossipove, Chaverot
BBG; and Rachel
Lachover, Koach BBG.

Regional N'siah, at the
Saturday Night
Masquerade Ball.

Saturday night
at Fall Conclave
always ends
with a bonfire
where people
gather, laughter
is heard, songs
are sung, and
mellow is the
method, just
prior to in-
bunks and
lights out.

A group of BBYOers at
Fall Conclave work at
the Leadership
Descrambler program
on Saturday morning,
in which they were to
identify words that
were associated with
leadership and talk
about why.

MBA OK!!!

Michigan Region BBG sent a delegation of 7 girls and 1 staff to the International BBG
MBA (Mind-Body-Attitude) Convention in Montreal, Quebec, on March 23-25. The
theme of the program was "The Age of Diversity," and programming explored the
wonderful world of being women.

5-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN

continued from page 1

Who we are and what we do:

What we will need for the future:

♦ BBYO addresses the social and
developmental needs of Jewish teens in
grades 7-12.
♦ BBYO offers Jewish teens a feeling of
acceptance beyond their nuclear family and
of belonging to a broader Jewish community.
♦ BBYO provides the opportunity for Jewish
teens, from unaffiliated to Day School
students, to pursue a comfortable Jewish
identity.
♦ BBYO is youth-led, one of its primary
strengths and a real attraction for teens.
♦ AZA and BBG chapters meet weekly to
maintain a high intensity of involvement, thus
becoming integral to the member's life.
♦ International BBYO Summer Programs
provide training for youth leaders on all levels
as well as for the professional staff.

♦ The BBYO Chapter Service Center needs technology upgrades and
the ability to remain current.
♦ The continuity of our staff is primary in delivering a strong
program; however, compensation increases to meet fair market
value are required.
♦ Recruitment and retention of volunteer chapter advisors needs to
improve, as these volunteers are critical to delivering program
services.
♦ Recruitment and training of BBYO Board members needs to be
improved to provide more meaningful support for the agency.
♦ Across-the-board subsidies must be made available to Michigan
BBYOers to encourage attendance at summer leadership
programs.
♦ BBYO needs to embark on a comprehensive marketing plan to
promote the goals of the agency.
♦ An ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGN is necessary to ensure the survival
and future excellence of the Michigan BBYO program.
