Rabbi Nevins sees seder leaders as
having a special purpose. "While
many things Jewish take place in a
synagogue or the school with profes-
sionals running them, the seder is
something where every adult needs to
become an educator."
For the Rubins, that means telling
the story of Passover and keeping it
interesting. But it also means some-
thing else. "Remembering wonderful
seders with my parents and grandpar-
ents as a kid is important," Robert
Rubin says. "And so is creating new
memories for our kids."

book series.
"For those whose spells are not in
proper working order, you can buy red
food coloring and place it in the bot-
tom of a glass and then fill it with
water," he says.
"We will absolutely turn water into
blood at our seder," Robert Rubin says
enthusiastically.
And so will Dr. Darryl and Marilyn
Goldberg. In fact, the Bloomfield
Hills couple purchased one of several
prepackaged bags of plagues that come
with small plastic frogs and lice, a

"miracle."
