A financial expert sees the investor as an
integral factor.

F

inancial expert Thomas Hakim of Hakim Financial, Inc. believes
the business of finance is not about numbers it's about trust. To
offer sound financial advice on money management in today's com-
petitive market, an advisor needs to be mindful of how a client
defines true wealth. From there, Hakim's compassion for people first will
surely put that goal within reach.
"That is the tenet I built my business on," Hakim said. "The market
going up and down is a reflection of helping people create security they're
comfortable with. But it's not the driving force. My business is about what
they want to achieve financially for themselves and their family. It's not
about the thrilling world of higher returns. When you sit with someone
and they open up to you who they are, what matters most, they want
peace of mind and their financial plan for
the future can be met.
Hakim's personal and professional phi-
losophy is to set attainable goals a client
can meet along the path to financial free-
dom. He tries to discourage do-it-your-
selfers and clients from developing a track-
ing strategy of running a computer chart
to map expected financial success.
In charting an accurate financial course,
Hakim believes numerous factors should
be considered including homeowners fluc-
tuating mortgage rates, interest rates, other
goals and time frames projected to reach
them.
"What we'll do is set a pattern," he said,
"so we're watching and along the way you
can say how close I am to the outcome I'm
looking for. If you set the high end too far out, you rarely know if you're
getting there. It's like a progress chart. That affords people piece of mind
and what could be of more importance than that?"
Hakim is an in-demand lecturer with big business and the community
alike and is host of the Clinton Township cable television program "People
and Money." Hakim is pumped by the opportunity to interact with friends
and associates, assists in building financial assets and connects with dreams.
Insight derived from former show guest and WDIV-TV news anchor
Mort Crim encapsulates what Hakim attributes as his favorite quote, "The
problem with society is we're all trying to get there and when we do, there
is no there."
"To help people prepare financially for tomorrow, that's what makes me
want to get out of bed today," Hakim said. "The value of people, relation-
ship, is at the center of what I do, and why I do it."
Hakim's personal heroes are his wife, Karen, and the couple's three chil-
dren.
"That's where my strength comes from. Anybody who knows me, knows
that."
He is an avid supporter of charitable causes and civic activities and he is
planning a third annual "Michigan Money Show," a partnership between
WWJ-AM (950) and WXYT (1270), later this year. He also recently
launched a partnership with Ron Caden in Southfield. Ron's expertise in
estate planning and 30 years plus of experience, form a truly successful
team. A venture he calls "a win-win situation for the community in gener-
al.
