Tzedakah Box:
Gifi That Gives
The Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit has a gift for
every bar and bat mitzvah. A hand-
crafted tzedakah box painted with
scenes of Jerusalem by the Israeli
artist Emanuel will be presented by
the honoree's synagogue on the spe-
cial day.
A colorful City of Tzedakah
brochure that explains the impor-
tance of tzedakah, a Hebrew word
that is commonly defined as charity,
will accompany each gift. In its literal
translation, tzedakah means justice.
Sally Krugel is chair of the
Federation/Synagogue Committee.
Ken Marblestone is associate chair.
The committee sponsors the pro-
ject with funding from the Max M.
Fisher Jewish Community
Foundation as well as the Sue Ann
Jacobs Trust.
For information on the gift program,
call Kari Altermen, (248) 203-1471.
