Dewey Drugs on McNichols in northwest
Detroit and then Davis Cut Rate Drugs in
a residential building at Davison and
Woodrow Wilson in Detroit. Known as
"the Vitamin King" and "Sam Davis the
friendly druggist" in advertisements for his
drug stores on Sunday morning radio
shows, he regularly encouraged neighbor-
hood children; Davis Cut Rate drugs
awarded prizes for good report cards and
established a trophy for the local junior
high basketball team.
He is survived by his daughters and
sons-in-law, Kathlyn and David Elsila of
Grosse Pointe Park, Susan Konop of
Huntington Woods, Harriet and Clyde
McKenzie of Boulder, Colo.; grandchil-
dren, Mikael Elsila, Jamie Elsila, Kari
Elsila, David Konop, Linda Konop,
Daniel McKenzie, Lauren McKenzie. Mr.
Deutch was the beloved husband of the
late Louise Deutch.

ELLEN ERNST, of Bloomfield Hills,
died March 2. She was a member of the
Sinai Hospital Women's Guild, Women's
American ORT and
the Tam O'Shanter
Country Club.

IRVING SELIG GOLDMAN, 82, of
Fremont, Calif., formerly of Detroit, died
Feb. 24. He worked for 41 years as an
educator and counselor with the Detroit
Public Schools. He served in World War
II.
"He loved spending time with his fami-
ly, reading, watching movies, golfing and
traveling," said Evelyn, his wife of 41
years. "He will be remembered as a gentle,
kind and considerate man who naturally
drew the affection and respect of all who
met him."
Other survivors include daughter and
son-in-law, Natalie and David Cuttler, and
their children, Ethan, Noah and Jonah;
son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and
Carol Goldman, and their son, Mac
Solman Goldman; son, Richard Berris and
his partner, Denise Nolan, and their chil-
dren, Sam and Peggy, all of Oakland,
Calif.; daughter, Amy Goldman of San
Ramon, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law,
Suzanne Goldman and Tracy Ott of
Gibbsonia, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law,
Dr. Alvin and Florence Goldman of West
Bloomfield; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the son of the late Solman and
Lillian Goldman of Huntington Woods.
A memorial service was held Feb. 27.

HYMAN A. GOODMAN, 78, of West
Bloomfield, died March 1.
He is survived by his daughter and son-

sister and brother-in-law, Marion and .
Herman Nusbaum of Westchester, Ohio;
companion, Marie Littman; grandchil-

Granitz, Andrea (David) Green, Jessica
Metz; great-grandchildren, Maxwell,
Noah, Aaron, Gabriel and Avery. He was
the beloved husband of the late Bernice
Lebowitz Goodman; brother of the late
Lou Goodman and the late Ilene
Goodman Fruman.

MAURY A. GORDON, 83, of
Farmington Hills, died March 3. He was a
merchandiser at Bormans Foods and did
consulting work for Cross and Peters. He
was also an officer in the Army during •
World War II, a 33rd Degree Mason and a
member of Perfection Lodge.
Mr. Gordon is survived by his wife,
Shirley Gordon; sons and daughter-in-
laws, Dr. Craig and Susan Gordon of
West Bloomfield, Avery Gordon and life
partner, Paul Majka of Ypsilanti, Ron
and Annette Soufrine of California;
daughters and son-in-law, Dr. Tobey
Gordon of Arizona, Joanee and Stephen
Hurwitz of Bloomfield Hills; grandchil-
dren, Marcy Soufrine, Ali Hurwitz, Sari,
Scott and Brittany Gordon, Anthony
and Zachary Soufrine; brother and sis-
ter-in-law, Dr. Victor and Beverly
Gordon; sisters, Charlotte Rosenberg
and Marian Lupiloff.
