Karen Ally- se Rosen will be called to
the Torah Saturday,
March 3, at Temple
Kol Ami. She is the
daughter of Roy and
Robin Rosen of
Farmington Hills,
younger sister of
Katie and older sister
of Kelli and Corey.
Her proud grandpar-
ents are Adele and Harold Samuels of
Southfield and Evelyn and Fred Rosen
of West Bloomfield.
Karen is a seventh-grade honors
student at Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills, where she partici-
pates in many intramural sports..
After school, she enjoys swimming,
cooking, playing golf, playing the
piano and working on her computer.
Karen's mitzvah projects included
volunteering at the Danto Family
Health Care Center and delivering
food at Yad Ezra. She continues to
volunteer with the Friendship Circle.
Karen will continue her volunteer
work after her bat mitzvah.

is also the great-
grandson of Luba Bond.
Attending Berkshire Middle
School in Birmingham, where he is
an honor student, Evan enjoys bas-
ketball, baseball, tennis and spend-
ing summers at Camp Tamarack.
For his mitzvah projects, he was a
counselor's aide at the Temple Beth
El nursery school summer camp.
He also helped serve breakfast with
others from the temple at the
Coalition On Temporary Shelter on
Christmas Day.

a bat mitzvah at
Temple Israel on
Friday, March 2. She
is the daughter of
Karen and Keith
Simmons and sister
of Alex. Excited
grandparents are Burton Silberstein,
Elaine Multer, William Simmons and
great-grandmother Pauline Goldman
Eisenberg. She is also the grandchild of
the late Carole Silberstein.
An honor student at Abbott Middle
School in West Bloomfield, Ashley is
interested in dancing, waterskiing and
snowboarding. She found it especially
meaningful to volunteer at Yad Ezra.
Erica Lauren Posner Wedes will be
called to the Torah as
a bat mitzvah at
Temple Beth El on
Saturday, March 3.
She is the daughter o f
Ken and Sandy
Posner Wedes and
sister of Justin and
Emily. Excited grand-
parents are Muriel
and Seymour Posner and Anne Wedes.
She is the great-grandaughter of Rose
Burg and the granddaughter of the late
Seymour Wedes.
Erica is an honor student at
Norup Middle School in Oak Park.
For the past six years, she has been
a competitive figure skater and
skates at the Detroit Skating Club.
Erica enjoyed playing basketball on
the seventh-grade team at Norup.
She is a member of the Temple
Beth El Kids Klez Band, where she
plays trumpet. This summer she
plans to attend Interlochen Arts
Academy for piano and art. Erica's
mitzvah project included volunteer-
ing at Yad Ezra and visiting the
Menorah House with the
Huntington Woods Woodstrivers.
Ian Peter Weiner
will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitz-
vah on Saturday,
March 3, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. He is
the son of Cheryl
and Stewart Weiner
and older brother of
Adam. His proud grandparents are
Marion and Harold Weisberg. He is
also the grandson of the late Lillian and
Max Gurowitz.
Ian is an honor student at Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. His favorite activities
include baseball, tennis, cross country,
golf, piano, computers and rooting for
the Green Bay Packers. Ian's most
inspiring mitzvah projects consisted of
working on the Jewish Family Service
Fall Fix-Up Project, making calls on
behalf of Federation's Annual
Campaign and donating toys to charity.
