SARAH ELSON, 92, of Beverly
Hills, died Feb. 20.
For over 40 years, she was a sales
consultant at Winkelman's. She was
also active with Pioneer Women,
JARC and Jewish National Find.
Mrs. Elson is survived by her son
and daughter-in-law, Allen and Gita
Elson of Mexico; grandchildren,
Rabbi Irving and Fran Elson, Annie
and Albert Lilienfeld, Irwin
Futernick and Margaret Weissman
and Karen Futernick. She was the
beloved wife of the late Irving Elson
and the loving mother of the late
Lenora Futernick.
Interment at Machpelah
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to Jewish National Fund.

MIRIAM FIELDS, 77, of
Bloomfield Hills, died Feb. 23.
She is survived by her son, Jamie
Field of Bloomfield Hills; sisters,
Sylvia Kort of California, Ethel Kay

Katz, Freda Katz; niece and nephew,
Rita Gail and Dr. Edward Kroll.

LOTTIE H. HEISMAN, 88, of
Warren, died Feb. 25.
She is survived by her daughter
and son-in-law, Eve and Robert L.
Portwood of Grosse Pointe Woods;
stepson, James Heisman; grandchil-
dren, Nancy and Dennis Osgood,
Richard and Cindi Portwood, Oded
Kindermann; great-grandchildren,
Abigail Osgood, Maxwell Portwood,
Ally Portwood. Mrs. Heisman was
the beloved wife of the late Karl
Kindermann, the late William
Heisman.
Interment was at Beth Moses
Cemetery in Roseville.

FLORENCE COHEN
HOFFMAN, 76, of Deerfield
Beach, Fla., died Feb. 22.
She is survived by her sons and
daughter-in-law, Paul Cohen of
Toronto, Gary and Linda Cohen of
Coral Springs, Fla.; brother and sis-
ter-in-law, Marvin and Sara

Hoffman of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Michael, Justin,
Lindsay, Stefanie and Jeffrey. She
was the beloved wife of the late
Harry Cohen and sister of the late
Sanford Hoffman.
Chapel services and interment
were held at Machpelah Cemetery.

CHARLES ALFRED KIRSH, 65,
of Orion, died Feb. 18.
He is survived by his brother,
Arthur Kirsh of Southfield; cousins,
Judi and Nicholas Grui; aunt, Silvia
Brenner; many nieces, nephews,
great-cousins and his family at his
Westlyn home. Mr. Kirsh was the
son of the late David and Gertrude
Kirsh.

LAWRENCE "LARRY"
KLEIMAN, 55, of Southfield, died
Feb. 20. He was an auto industry
finance manager and a passionate
Yankee, Knicks and Giants fan.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn
Kleinman; daughters and son-in-law,
Stacey Kleiman and fiance Eric
Stanford, Ilissa and Phil Auger of
Lake Orion, Debra Kleiman of
Rochester Hills; son, Peter Kamego
of Southfield; grandchildren, Jordan,
Madison and Maxwell Auger, Kayla
Kamego; sister and brother-in-law,
Shirley and Mac Duberstein of
Farmington Hills; brother, Neil
Kleiman and fiancee Judy
Behrmann.
Interment at Beth El Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to
American Diabetes Association and
Salvation Army. Arrangements by Ira

ADOLPH KOMER, 79, of
Bloomfield Hills, died Feb. 25. A
builder and developer, he was the
owner of Komer Companies.
Twenty-four years ago, he became
a bar mitzvah with his son at Yeshiva
Beth Yehudah.
Mr. Komer helped initiate the
city of Detroit tax abatements to
bring development to downtown
Detroit, developed and built
Franklin Park ToWers in Southfield
— 1172 units — which was the

largest single phase HUD complex
in the U.S.
He was a captain in the Army Air
Corps during World War II, a
national gunnery champion, an
advanced flight instructor, a POW
with two Purple Hearts and a B-24
squadron commander.
He built many thousands of
homes in metro Detroit and, in
1953, he built the first shopping
center — Eastgate Shopping Center
— with the largest store on one
floor in the U.S., Federals. He was a
leader in developing senior citizen
high-rises, River Tower Apartments
on the riverfront and was a partner
with Max Fisher, Al Taubman and
Henry Ford in the development of
riverfront apartments next to Cobo
Hall.
Mr. Komer is survived by his son
and daughter-in-law, Ronald and
Barbara Komer of West Bloomfield;
daughter, Janice Komer of
Southfield; granddaughter, Arielle
Komer. He was the beloved husband
of the late Bertie Komer.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cenetery. Contributions may be
directed to Yeshiva Beth Yehudah,
15751 Lincoln, P.O. Box 2044,
Smithfield, MI 48037.

ETHEL LEVANT, 84, of
Southfield, died Feb. 19. She was a
member of Hadassah, Women's
American ORT and Congregation
Shaarey Zedek and its sisterhood.
Mrs. Levant is survived by her
son and daughter-in-law, Julian and
Deborah Levant of Lake Orion;
grandchildren, Abigail Levant and
fiance Patrick McCutcheon, Katie
Levant; brother and sister-in-law,
Jerome and Rita Keywell of West
Bloomfield; sister and brother-in-
law, Joyce and Paul Pensler of
Farmington Hills; sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Kopel Kahn, Bertha
Levine, Harry and Yetta Levine,
Ethel Levine, Florence Paul and
Evelyn Gold.
She was the beloved wife of the
late J. Phillip Levant, - the loving sis-
ter of the late Estelle Kahn and the
dear sister-in-law of the late Joseph
Levine, the late Melvin Levine•and
the late Clara Rosenberger.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to a charity of one's choice.
